Gennadiy Volfovskiy Exhibition Catalog

This 74-page art exhibition catalog was created to accompany a retrospective of Gennadiy Volfovskiy’s work, highlighting the evolution of his style across five distinct periods shaped by geography and time. The catalog opens with a biographical section featuring a portrait and archival photographs, setting the tone for the viewer’s journey through the artist’s creative life.

I was responsible for the whole art exhibition catalog design and layout, including the cover, typography, and preparation for print. Designed using InDesign and Photoshop, the catalog maintains a unified, minimalist aesthetic. Each of the five sections is introduced with a fly-title spread to provide rhythm and clarity without disrupting the visual flow.

A major challenge of this project was balancing the perspectives of both the curator and the client—ensuring that the design honored artistic intent while meeting organizational goals. The catalog also includes bilingual artwork titles, requiring careful typographic decisions to maintain balance and readability.

The final result not only supports the exhibition but also sets the visual tone for Volfovskiy’s delicate and expressive watercolor work. The project was completed over the course of three weeks.
