This catalog was created to accompany an exhibition of works by Spartak Babayan, a renowned artist whose legacy spans multiple mediums. Designed closely with the exhibition curator Yulia Garamova, the catalog showcases four distinct sections, each devoted to a specific artistic medium. To emphasize these divisions without disrupting the visual flow, each section is marked with its background color, while the overall layout and typography remain consistent throughout.
The design approach is clean and understated, allowing Babayan’s artwork to take center stage. The catalog also includes a biographical section featuring archival photographs and portraits, offering a deeper look into the artist’s life and career.
The cover design draws inspiration from one of Babayan’s works and sets the tone for the entire piece. One of the core challenges in this project was aligning vertically oriented artwork within a square paper format while preserving visual harmony. Additionally, all artwork titles appear in both languages, adding another layer of complexity to the typographic system.
The entire project—from concept to print-ready files—was completed in two weeks using InDesign and Photoshop.
